Last night Aidan and I went to Oz! Only instead of going down the yellow brick road, we went with Connex and via Lord of the Fries because we are too disorganised and lazy to cook for ourselves 
We got the sauce of the month for July which is amazingly creative – TARTARE SAUCE! It was good though.

So Wicked was fantastic. First thing to note is the lack of Anthony Callea (tragic ..), Boq was played by some other dude. And he was really good! I’m pretty sure I’m glad Callea wasn’t in it, he would probably be distracting and pop-ish and dramatic and blerghe. I’m surprised such a superstar would play that role. It’s perfectly suited (he plays a munchkin) but its not that big of a singing role. He doesn’t have a big song or anything, which probably means he would grandstand even more with his parts. Anyway, the other dude was really good.
After watching a thing on Foxtel with the cast we were a bit worried Rob Mills would be distracting as well but in the end we were far enough away and he was in costume and acting so .. worked out fine. Although, when he first came on he’s wearing these weird jodper pants and no matter how far back you were sitting, it was a very awkward look.
The two leads were a-mazing. The green one more than the blonde, but still, both really really good. They nailed all the jokes, got all the notes, it was great.
The set is amazing. Hard to describe but the whole front of the theatre is set (like they cover the boxes and everything). Apparently it all cost something like $12 million. AND they fully put giant holes in the ceiling to hang shit off haha..
Musicals are freaking expensive. Ticket ($120), Program ($20), Ozmopolitan (slushy cocktail with a light up glass :O $10), Poster ($17!!), Keyring ($8) comes to .. $175 .. gosh.. good thing the tickets were a present 
So afterward we came home and I burnt Aidan the soundtrack. Overall a splendiforous Wicked experience.
